The Finding

When you travel a road for the first time,

 It seems so far making you wonder

If your bearings are straight.

Every piece of scenery

Around the corner of every bend,

And over every steep hill,

Is a new picture to our eyes

As if a camera was capturing it.

The beauty of what we see is remembered

So that we may return.

The next time we choose to journey that same road

It seems less of a stretch than it was before,

And we find ourselves in a more comfortable

And more patient state of mind

Because we know what awaits us.

The suns rays reflect off the lake

Like a wild raspberry turning red

As it ripens in the sunlight.

The deer runs in the field so gracefully

Like a dancer whose passion touches every step.

This road seems so short now because

We already know what we will find.

And upon reflection,

It`s almost like visiting the past

But we can`t change the past.

Instead we can go back,

And see those people or the things,

We shared those times with.

A tree that once stood majestic may have fallen,

Or a young face could have matured,

But their eyes are exactly the same as you remember.

The first time we came here

 We may have never imagined coming back.

But in a refreshing way ties have bound us,

Hands and memories have connected friendships.

And if only for a while

 Which may seem like a single moment,
Our eyes have found a resting place

And our hearts have found a home.
